Reverse Osmosis (RO) Systems: High-Efficiency Technology in Industrial Water Treatment

Reverse osmosis systems in various capacities for domestic, commercial and industrial use, removing up to 99% of harmful substances from your water.

Endüstriyel Su Arıtma Sistemleri

In industrial facilities, process quality and equipment life are directly linked to the purity of the water used. Where it matters most, reverse osmosis (RO) systems are among the most effective and reliable treatment solutions.
aquaDESTECH, with its sector experience and engineering strength, designs and commissions reverse osmosis (RO) systems tailored to the needs of industrial facilities.

Reverse osmosis technology treats water through semi-permeable membranes under high pressure, removing 99% of dissolved salts, minerals, heavy metals, bacteria and other harmful substances.

Reverse Osmosis Systems

Frequently Asked Questions

Reverse osmosis passes water through a semi-permeable membrane, removing 99% of dissolved salts, minerals, heavy metals, bacteria and viruses. This produces high-purity water that can be used as drinking water, process water or product water. In industrial plants in particular, the system plays a critical role in product quality and equipment life.

Reverse osmosis removes not only hardness but also salts, heavy metals and microorganisms.

Membrane life depends on many factors: feed water quality, the effectiveness of pre-treatment, operating conditions and hours of use. In general, RO membranes need replacing every 2 to 5 years. With good pre-treatment and regular maintenance, this period can be extended.

RO systems can be used in a very wide range of sectors: • Food and beverage: to improve product quality and hygiene • Chemicals and pharmaceuticals: for pure water required by formulations • Textiles: for pure water in dyeing and rinsing • Energy and boiler systems: to ensure boiler feed water quality • Metalworking and automotive: for pure water in surface treatment

No. In addition to salts, reverse osmosis systems also remove a wide variety of harmful substances to a high degree, such as: • Heavy metals (arsenic, lead, mercury) • Nitrate and nitrite • Bacteria and viruses • Pesticide residues • Organic pollutants • Hardness-forming minerals

Pre-treatment is essential to prevent membrane fouling and chemical damage. It usually includes: • Removal of suspended solids with a sand filter or cartridge filter • Iron and manganese removal with an iron-manganese filter • Removal of chlorine, organic matter and odours with an activated carbon filter • Antiscalant dosing to prevent scaling • pH adjustment Good pre-treatment significantly increases system efficiency and membrane life.

Reverse osmosis systems are generally suitable for mains water, well water, surface water and recovered process water. However, water with very high pollution or containing oil and solvent residues may require additional pre-treatment and system configuration. For very high-salinity water such as seawater, special SWRO (seawater RO) systems are required.

For a standard reverse osmosis system, once the site survey and design are complete: • Manufacturing time: 3–5 weeks • On-site installation and commissioning: 3–7 days In total, the system is operational within 1–2 months. Delivery time may vary depending on capacity.

Maintenance is quite simple and includes: • Periodic replacement of filter cartridges • Chemical cleaning (CIP – clean-in-place) • Remote performance monitoring via SCADA • Checks of inlet/outlet conductivity, pressure and flow At aquaDESTECH we create a maintenance plan specific to your system and, if you wish, provide remote technical support.
